Ink That Holds Up in a Report File

Worth being specific, because it matters more here than anywhere else on the site. Pressurized ink writes in cold and wet. Archival and anti fraud inks resist fading and tampering, which is what you want in a file that may be read years later. And erasable ink, which this site does stock, is the wrong choice for a report, a statement or an evidence log, so keep it out of that order. Call 800.431.3473 for the right barrel.

Common Questions

Is erasable ink ever appropriate for department use?

For a training packet or a whiteboard, fine. For a report, a witness statement, a log or anything that may be produced later, no. It should not go into a records order and it is worth saying so to whoever is placing it.

What is anti fraud ink?

An ink formulated to resist being lifted or altered with solvents once it has dried, which is why it turns up on check writing and form filling pens. It is a reasonable default for anything a member of the public signs.

Does a black barrel matter, or just black ink?

Only the ink matters for the file. Some departments prefer a black barrel for uniform appearance, which is a separate preference and easy to accommodate. Tell us if you need both and we will filter for it.
