Medals & Award Coins

Custom Challenge Coins and Medals for Academy Classes, Units, Retirements, and Department Races

A challenge coin is part of department culture. Academy classes order one for every graduate. Units, shifts and specialty teams carry their own. A retiring member gets a coin at the walkout, and chiefs hand coins to members and partners as an on the spot thank you. Medals on neck ribbons go to every finisher at a department 5K, a memorial run or a youth league the department sponsors.

Choose by who carries it. A unit or academy class coin is usually custom: die struck brass or soft and hard enamel in the unit's own design. A stock die cast zinc coin in one or two sizes suits a quick thank you. Race and youth events take a stock speed medal or laurel wreath medal on a neck ribbon, or a custom die struck medal. Some custom pieces are direct import items, noted on each product page. Foremost Promotions sends free samples to businesses and organizations so buyers can compare coins and medals before ordering.

Common Questions About Challenge Coins and Medals

Can we design our own unit coin?
Yes. Custom die struck and enamel challenge coins are made to your design. Call 800.431.3473 to start the artwork.

What works for a department 5K or memorial run?
A stock speed medal or laurel wreath medal on a neck ribbon works for every finisher. A custom medal suits a signature race.

What does direct import mean on a product page?
It means the item is made to order overseas. Check the product page and call for current timing before you set a ceremony date.

Can the unit see a coin before the order?
Yes, and you do not have to pick one. Add a brass coin, a zinc coin and a medal to the sample basket from any product page, or call 800.431.3473. They come packaged so the unit or the union board can pass them around at the next meeting. Free samples ship to a business or organization address through the Foremost Promotions sample basket.
